This week, one of our customers shared with us how she completely transformed her dull, white closet into a place of beauty.
As she says, “This closet finally feels like it fits in with the rest of the flow and decor of my home. It’s become an extension of my master bedroom. I no longer hesitate to leave my closet door open. It’s so pretty that I leave the door open all the time now.”
No need to persuade us… We’re already well aware of how effective a fresh coat of paint is in brighting up a space and making it feel brand new. It can do the same for closets, too!
Our customer was so impressed by the change, that she wanted to share the details with you.
How a Fresh Coat of Paint Can Transform Your Closet
My husband and I were super excited to move into our brand new home back in 2004. The downside was that the interior of the house was white. Given that we love the warmth and intimacy that color provides, we knew we had lots of painting projects to look forward to.
Fast forward to 2016… Almost every wall in our home has been painted at least once. In fact, we are working on our second round of painting tasks. As you know, paint fades and looses it’s luster over time. Plus we are tired of the same old colors and are ready to update.
However, over the years we’ve successfully avoided a series of painting projects that we convinced ourselves wasn’t important – our closets. After 12 years of staring at our dull, boring and marked-up closet walls, we decided enough was enough.
One rainy December morning, my husband asked me what I wanted for Christmas. The answer was so easy. A shiny, new closet.
You see, I had these ridiculous wire shelves that I’ve hated using over the years. You know the ones I’m talking about. Anything I sat on them ended up with wire patterns, or fell through the wire slots completely wrecking everything from magazines and books to artwork my kids made for me. Plus, they were placed in the closet in such an awkward fashion that it was hard to store my items properly.
Why didn’t I just add some wire covers to the shelves, you might ask? Well, because – someday I was going to replace all the shelves anyway. I just didn’t realize it was going to take me 12 years.
In addition to new shelves and hanging options, I wanted a new light fixture. Oh, and purple walls… because nothing says ultimate-amazing-beautiful closet like purple walls.
The entire project took just under two months. We hired a vendor to design and install a new closet system. I chose a chandelier that I absolutely love. Then came the paint.
I selected a shade of purple that had more blue than red. It’s not surprising that the shade is called Noblesse (Pratt & Lambert 29-15), as I feel like royalty when I look at the color of my walls. It’s that impressive!
Below are photos that I took of my closet after painting and after the system installation. To say that I love the outcome is an understatement!
Now it’s your turn!
